Ever get bored of your typical workout routine? Try varying up the way you exercise to keep yourself motivated and make exercising fun! Here are a few activities that can act as an alternative to your normal gym session.

Group Exercise Class

A lot of people exercise on their own so their workout can fit their schedule, but next time you hit the gym try checking out one of the classes offered. Group exercise is a great way to keep you motivated and working out at a higher intensity pace than usual. Being surrounded by a group of people who have the same goals allows everyone to feed off of each other’s energy. Along with this you have an instructor leading the routine and pushing you to work hard. This is also a great way to meet a new workout partner who can help keep you on track.

Organized Sport

Most people think organized sports are just for when you were a kid but this couldn’t be further from the truth. There are many adult leagues out there for every sport imaginable, and much like the group exercise classes, being on a team is a great way to keep you motivated and meet other athletic individuals.

Hiking

Hiking is a great way to get outside and get an awesome workout too. Not only are you walking along difficult terrain but often times you’re carrying things with you such as healthy snacks and water. This is a great way to get your heart rate up, tone your legs, and still have an enjoyable time. It is also something you can do with family or friends. New to hiking? Not a problem because SOFT offers guided hiking and backpacking trips where you’ll not only have a fun time and get in a good workout but you’ll learn some great outdoor survival tips and all about navigation that will make you a pro hiker in no time.

Swimming

Swimming is an awesome workout that tones up your whole body. It is also a good option for people who may not be interested in the high intensity workout classes, which have a lot of people in them because it’s just you and the water. Spend a day in the pool doing a few laps and you’ll be sure to feel it in your muscles the next day, it is also a great way to speed up your appetite and burn calories.

Mixed Martial Arts

Most people think of kickboxing but Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a great workout that’s fast paced, fun, and will burn tons of calories. Not only is it an intense exercise that tones your whole body but it is a great way to learn self defense. This is one of SOFT’s key focus areas. We offer Fight Fit classes where you will get the challenging exercise and sparring session, as well as several self-defense seminars.
